We've had solo acts, acoustic acts and full-fledged bands.

We've even had performers discovered here before.

Yes, by an actual talent scout sitting at the bar!

Cicada Radio / Desir Decir / The Belveduo

Here's a mid-November night filled with revved up energy and harmonious tension featuring a few New Jersey post-punk melody makers.

First up, The Belveduo, featuring Mike and Michelle of Control get back through the doors with their blend of dual vocal, dueling guitar work. Sometimes swooning, other times throaty, their push and pull is always strong. Often reinterpreting familiar songs from their band set, plus others catered to the acoustic duo they shift between.

Next up, Desir Decir from Jersey City have two EPs on Killing Horse Records, have toured the eastern U.S. and are no strangers on the NJ post-punk map. Revved up on The Clash and The Replacements, with an exhale resonating Springsteen and Cash, their near rockabilly pulse is easy to nod a pint back with, as your other fist is pumping in the air.

Finally, Cicada Radio anchor this event with their luscious array of sonics (just listen to their latest "Catch & Release" track and you'll hear what we mean). They claim influence under the schools of At The Drive-In, Desaparecidos and The Police, yet have been evolving their own sound for nearly a decade, blending haunting melodies, lush noise-scapes, reverb-drenched vocals and just enough hook to reel you in.

Mythology / Woodfish

Get your shred on as Mythology and Woodfish return to Krogh's with their brand of progressive rock & jazz fusion!

Those familiar know Mythology's combination of the two while nodding to classical influences set to a cinematic flair. Think: Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Yes. Listen to their mind bending new album 'All The Planets Have Aligned' and hear for yourself.

They'll be splitting the night with openers, Woodfish. Forming a bond while paired a year and a half ago under our roof, we're glad to oblige their combined billing for another round. Woodfish sound like alternative rock's brand of progressive, energetic and exciting, yet containing a musical prowess many a musician can admire. Plus a gigging tracking record that's no slouch. Make a night of it.

Brian Erickson, Old Currents, Mick Hargan & Amanda Rose Riley

Set aside this first weekend in December for a listening session featuring a wonderful night of acoustic folk music (one songwriter returning from Glasgow, Scotland). This night will be structured with rotating the musicians twice through, easy changeovers keeping it moving and diverse.

    • Brian Erick (of The Paper Jets, The Extensions)

Fronting yesteryear's fawned-upon The Paper Jets, into his latest indie-power pop group The Extensions, Brian Erickson is a man aiming at your memory bytes. Stepping in for a solo gig, we welcome an array of styles tipped from both classic and modern flair. No stranger jamming his busy schedule with gigs, we figured it was about time we beckon his return.

    • Old Currents (duo set feat. songwriters Jake and Joe)

Blue-collar humbility does folk-punk right. Jake and Joe of Old Currents are men on the scene, returning with acoustic guitars and the core of their memorable song craft. Recently hitting the recording studio for both an upcoming acoustic single as well as their second full-length full-band album, we'll be treated for an earful of new and some familiars off their debut album, Three Chords & The Truth (2017). http://www.oldcurrents.com

    • Mick Hargan (from Glasgow, Scotland)

Mick returns through our doors after 4 years and vast mileage covered through countries near and far. Proudly calling Glasgow his home, he's a wanderer true to form, road-casing his songs for those that will have him. Let's give him a warm welcome back into our logged walls as he plays songs from his brand new, soon-to-be-released album I'm No Good
    (Nov. 30, 2019). https://www.mickhargan.com

    • Amanda Rose Riley

What can you say when a young songwriter catches the ear, henceforth bolt of light to support Frank Turner's Lost Evenings Festival and Flogging Molly Salty Dog Cruise? Amanda Rose Riley plays traditional and nontraditional locations—bars, cafes, streets and stages. From busking at train stations through NJ Transit’s Music in Motion program, to a DIY tour in England including busking, open mics and more. She's putting in the work and it shows. http://amandaroseriley.com
